Prelude Lighting of the Candles
Opening Scripture Sentence: It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery… you were called to be free in Christ. Galatians 5:1,13
*Opening Prayer Pastor
*Call to Worship Responsive Reading, Psalm 16:1-2, 5-11
Leader: Keep us safe, O God, for in you we take refuge. I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”
All: Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely we have a delightful inheritance.
Leader: We will praise the Lord, who counsels us; even at night our hearts instruct us.
All: I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
Leader: Therefore, our hearts are glad, and our tongues rejoice; our bodies will also rest secure because you will not abandon us to the grave, nor let your Holy One see decay.
All: You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Call to Confession
Unison Prayer of Confession
Holy and merciful God, forgive us for the times we said we would follow you, but instead we turned back to consider our own interests. Forgive us for the times we have followed the path of the wicked, stood in solidarity with those who were wrong, or sat quietly and allowed sin to happen. Help us to see clearly the intent of your law illuminated by the light of Christ’s love. Restore us in spirit, so that we may flourish with the fruit of your Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Silent Prayer of Confession
Assurance of Pardon Pastor
You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope. In Jesus Christ, the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself as love. From Galatians 5:4-6

Our Giving to the Lord Pastor
The way to Jerusalem was costly for the Lord. The way of Christian faithfulness is costly today. It requires nothing less than the full commitment of our lives. Our offering is a symbol of our life in the Spirit and of our commitment to the reign of God.
