Prelude Lighting of the Candles
*Opening Prayer Pastor
*Call to Worship Responsive Reading from Isaiah 64:1-4, 8
Leader: Oh, that you would burst from the heavens and come down! How the mountains would quake in your presence! As fire causes wood to burn and water to boil, your coming would make the nations tremble.
All: When you came down long ago, you did awesome deeds beyond our greatest expectations.
Leader: For since the world began, no ear has heard and no eye has seen a God like you, who works for those who wait for him!
All: O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We are all your chosen people, formed by your hand.
Leader: Awake, people of God, and stay alert for Christ’s coming! Grace to you, and peace from God who sent Jesus to save us.

Call to Confession
Unison Prayer of Confession
O Shepherd of Israel, who leads Joseph’s descendants like a flock, we are constant sinners. We are all infected and impure with sin. Our righteous deeds are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind. Turn us again to yourself, O God. Make your face shine down on us, for only then will we be saved. Revive us so we can call on your name once more. We seek forgiveness, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Silent Prayer of Confession
Assurance of Pardon Pastor
The Lord God is our Father. We are the clay, and he is the potter; we are all formed from his hand. He looks at us, seeing that we are his people. In grace and mercy, he sent Jesus to be our Savior, to rescue us from sin and darkness. Jesus is the light of the world!
