Call to Confession
Unison Prayer of Confession
Almighty God, we confess to you our unloving thoughts and deeds. Forgive us for ignoring your commands, and for bending and breaking your standards in our own favor. We withhold ourselves rather than offer our lives, even for our friends. We set worldly priorities above your holy desires. We hoard or misuse the gifts you entrust to us, instead of letting them bear fruit for you. Cleanse us, we pray, and free us to love as you have loved us, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Silent Prayer of Confession
Assurance of Pardon Pastor
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God… and whoever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, our faith in Christ. I declare to you, in Jesus’ name, by the grace of God and the faith you are given, your sins are washed away. Thanks be to God. 1 John 5:1,4

Easter Greeting:
Leader: Alleluia! Christ is risen! People: He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
*Opening Prayer Pastor
*Call to Worship Responsive Reading from 1 John 4:7-19
Leader: Let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. God is love.
All: This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
Leader: Dear friends, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another.
All: No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us.
Leader: We know that we live in him and he in us because he has given us his Spirit. We have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be Savior of the world.
All: We love because he first loved us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him, and love is made complete among us.
*The Hymn “The Church’s One Foundation” No. 115

Call to Confession
Unison Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, you know when we are afraid to love; you know when we are too cowardly to show mercy. Remind us again that perfect love casts out such fear. Strengthen us with your perfect love in the face of our imperfections. Fill us with a love so strong, that we may cast aside selfishness and pride and embrace your vision and power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Silent Prayer of Confession
Assurance of Pardon Pastor
God is love. He loved us so much that he sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. In this way, love is made complete among us, and we will have confidence on the day of judgement.

Call to Confession
Unison Prayer of Confession
Great Shepherd, you love us, but we do not love you fully. We have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We follow too much the desires of our own hearts, breaking your laws of love. We walk away from neighbors in need, wrapped in our own concerns. We leave undone the things you call us to do; we do those things we ought not to do. Help us to admit our sin, repent, and return to you, receiving forgiveness in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Silent Prayer of Confession
Assurance of Pardon Pastor
The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you, in the name of Jesus, your sins are forgiven. May the God of mercy, who forgives all our sins, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen.

Merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed. We have not loved you with our whole heart, mind, and strength. We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. Call to Confession
Unison Prayer of Confession
Righteous God, your church is less than faithful in our words and actions, as individuals and as a body. We want to represent the risen Christ, but we forget that Jesus loved the unlovable, forgave the unforgivable, and welcomed sinners to eat with him. We set standards and limits, and break bread only with those who “qualify”. We fail to recognize your presence in people who are different from us. We lack passion for discipleship. Forgive us and renew your church in the light of your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Silent Prayer of Confession
Assurance of Pardon Pastor
My dear children, I write this to you that you might not sin, but if anyone does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense – Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:1-2
