Call to Confession
Unison Prayer of Confession
O Lord, hear our prayers of confession. Our faith is fragile, and too often our sins go unrecognized. We have not seen you in our midst or listened to your voice. We fail to prepare the way for Christ’s return because our self-concern is greater than our love for others. We come with sincere repentance, that you may forgive us and guide us back to the path of righteousness and peace, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Call to Confession
Unison Prayer of Confession
O Shepherd of Israel, who leads Joseph’s descendants like a flock, we are constant sinners. We are all infected and impure with sin. Our righteous deeds are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind. Turn us again to yourself, O God. Make your face shine down on us, for only then will we be saved. Revive us so we can call on your name once more. We seek forgiveness, in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Unison Prayer of Confession
Loving God, on this day we celebrate Christ as King, yet we fail to let him reign as Lord in our lives. We confess that we have not bowed before him. We give allegiance to the powers of this world and refuse to be governed by your justice and love. In your mercy, forgive us. Turn our hearts to see our need for a Savior and to proclaim Jesus as Lord. Then our lives will point the way to Him as the King of All and the Shepherd of His flock. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Generous God, we are like the parable’s cautious servant: we hoard what we possess and are afraid of risk. You have given us creative minds and varied abilities to use in your service, yet we settle for what is less than we could accomplish in you. You have given us compassionate hearts to reach out to others, yet we avoid the difficult ethical questions of this world. Forgive our misuse and underuse of the gifts you have given. Restore our place in your family, that we may hear you say, “Well done, faithful servant, enter into my joy.” In Jesus’ name. Amen.
