Leader: On the mountain of the Lord, God will teach us his ways, and we will walk in his paths.
All: The word of the Lord will go out from his mountain. God will be our judge. He will settle disputes between the peoples.

Merciful God, we humbly confess the many ways our attention is distracted from you. This is the message we have heard from God and proclaim to you: that God is light and in God there is no darkness at all. If we walk in the light, as God is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1:5,7

Unison Prayer of Confession
Merciful and Just God, we confess the many ways our lives are not under Christ’s rule. Although you have rescued us many times, we continue to wander away from your vision and plan for us. We claim to be followers of Jesus, but our words and deeds deny the faith we proclaim. Deliver us from misplaced loyalties and unacknowledged sin. Forgive us and make us clean in the sacrificial blood of Christ. Raise us up to proclaim Jesus as ruler of all, that we may be loyal ambassadors for his kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Unison Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, who welcomes home those who wander and are scattered, we confess that we have hungered for that which does not satisfy. We build towers for our own glory rather than for yours. Although you send your Spirit to inspire and empower us, we do not always live as Spirit-filled people. Forgive our sins and help us to recognize the divine within us. Restore us to a discerning mind and a holy will that we may be one in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
