Prelude Lighting of the Candles
Opening Scripture Sentence: I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” And now here we are, standing inside your gates… Come, let us walk in the light of the Lord! (Psalm 122:1-2, Isaiah 2:5)
*Opening Prayer Pastor
*Call to Worship Responsive Reading from Isaiah 2:3-5
Leader: Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob!
All: Our hearts are filled with great anticipation, waiting for Jesus to come again. God is with us as we wait for his promises to be fulfilled.
Leader: On the mountain of the Lord, God will teach us his ways, and we will walk in his paths.
All: The word of the Lord will go out from his mountain. God will be our judge. He will settle disputes between the peoples.
Leader: We hope for peace in the promise: They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.
All: We gather today as a family. God is with us. Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord. Awaken to the season of anticipation and prepare for Christ’s return!

Call to Confession
Unison Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, we humbly confess the many ways our attention is distracted from you. We fail to see your presence with us because we are preoccupied with our work, our worries, and our selfish desires. Forgive our sins and awaken our spirits. Stir our hearts to seek your light and turn us to the path you want us to walk. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Silent Prayer of Confession
Assurance of Pardon Pastor
This is the message we have heard from God and proclaim to you: that God is light and in God there is no darkness at all. If we walk in the light, as God is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1:5,7
