Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Ministry
Another spoke in the Cumberland Presbyterian wheel is the Women's Ministry. Each church has their own group that contributes to the needs and ministries of their church. The members of the Pine Tree Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Ministry find themselves committed to programs and projects all year long. Here is a list of those items;
Operation Christmas Child - Every year the members of CPWM gather items for children age 2 to 14 and make gift boxes for boy or girl and their age group. The boxes are then distributed to children in need all over the world. Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse. Samaritan's Purse is an evangelical Christian humanitarian aid organization that provides aid to people in physical need as a key part of its Christian missionary work. Churches and groups pack shoe boxes with gifts each year to be sent to children in need to more than one hundred countries. Each box is filled with toys, school supplies, and personal care items.
Texas Oncology - Hand Crocheted Chemo Caps were donated to women going through chemotherapy and desiring a new covering for their illness.
Christmas Cookie Gifts - Each year the members of the CPWM will bring holiday cookies to members that can not make it to church due to living and health issues.
House of Hope - For many years, Pine Tree CPWM has made donations to the House of Hope. Previous items have been house shoes, pajamas, and toiletries. This year 28 hand crocheted head warmers were presented to the residents of House of Hope. Sister Helen, director of House of Hope accepted the gifts and gave CPWM members a tour of the facilities.
East Texas Women's Center - Another Pine Tree CPWM project is to take Christmas gifts to the East Texas Women’s Center of Longview. This year 10 decorative hand crocheted head warmers and 10 colorful hand crocheted winters scarves were taken to the Women’s Center during December for Christmas presents to the residents.
