Prelude Lighting of the Candles
Opening Scripture Sentence: “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned (Isaiah 9:2). Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).

Leader: Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world.
All: Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.

Call to Confession
Unison Prayer of Confession
God of Hope, our lives too often demonstrate the fruit of humanity’s greed, apathy, and neglect rather than the fruit of your righteousness. We forget your faithful promise. We distort your truth. We are reluctant to answer your call, choosing instead to embrace worldliness. Forgive our sins as we repent. In Christ, you offer us a second chance at life with you. In His name we pray, Amen.
Silent Prayer of Confession
