Prelude Lighting of the Candles

*Call to Worship
Leader: A new year has dawned; the old is past. This is a time for beginnings, a time to encounter God. Arise, shine, for your light has come!
All: We are awake; we are alive in Christ! We praise God for our deliverance and abundant blessings!
Leader: Lift up your eyes to perceive the glory of God all around you. Let your hearts rejoice and be radiant with hope, as you receive again the promises of the gospel.
All: May justice water the earth like a shower; let righteousness and peace abound. We celebrate the mystery of God’s grace revealed. We proclaim the abundant riches of Christ and seek to share the fruits of his righteousness.

Call to Confession
Unison Prayer of Confession
Eternal God, we confess that we have heard your word, but we choose to ignore the Truth it reveals. We say we believe, but our hearts are not committed, and we fail to live in faith. As the Word became flesh in Christ, we pray it may come alive in us. Hear our confessions and prayers of repentance. We want to make the changes needed so that we may have abundant life, filled with blessing. Make us into a community of the forgiven, ready to forgive and include others, according to your divine plan. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Silent Prayer of Confession
Assurance of Pardon Pastor
The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. From the fullness of his grace, we have received one blessing after another. John 1:9,12,16

Our Giving to the Lord Pastor
Guided by a star, the Magi came from distant places, seeking the Christ, bearing gifts of gold and incense, and praising God. Like them, we are drawn to the light of Jesus. In Christ, God has satisfied us with blessings beyond our deserving. With joyful hearts we bring him gifts as we are able.
