Opening Scripture Sentence: And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth… you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.                                                            John 14:16-17

*Opening Prayer                                                                                            Pastor

*Call to Worship                                         Responsive Reading, Psalm 104:24-34

Leader: How many are your works, O Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.

All: There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number – living things both large and small.

Leader: There the ships go to and fro, and the leviathan, which you formed to frolic there. These all look to you to give them their food at the proper time.

All: When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things.

Leader: When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to dust.

All: When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth.

Leader: May the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord rejoice in his works.

All: I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. May our meditations be pleasing to him, as we rejoice in the Lord.

Call to Confession

Unison Prayer of Confession

Merciful God, who welcomes home those who wander and are scattered, we confess that we have hungered for that which does not satisfy. We build towers for our own glory rather than for yours. Although you send your Spirit to inspire and empower us, we do not always live as Spirit-filled people. Forgive our sins and help us to recognize the divine within us. Restore us to a discerning mind and a holy will that we may be one in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Silent Prayer of Confession

Assurance of Pardon                                                                                                       Pastor

“… if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit are children of God. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ…”                                                                                                                             from Romans 8:13-16

Our Giving to the Lord                                                                                                 Pastor

God gives us food in due season, opening his loving hand to fill us with good things. As the face of the ground is continually renewed, even so our spirits are renewed. Our offerings are a small expression of great thanksgiving.
