From the Pastor: A Season of Prayer for Our Nation

Having just passed the mark of Memorial Day, our minds are on patriotism, and we are full of gratitude for the sacrifice of those who gave their lives to create and protect this nation… formed as a nation under God.  Having just celebrated the Day of Pentecost, we are reminded to seek power from the Holy Spirit within us, the gift promised to believers in Christ by God the Father. On July 4, we will celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States of America. Psalm 33:12 says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom He has chosen as his heritage.” Although we are immeasurably grateful to live in this country, we see things every day that concern us and make us question whether we are walking with God as a nation. This is a crucial time to pray for America, our leaders, our communities, our churches, and our families. In the coming month, which leads up to the national birthday, let us pray without ceasing; let us pray together and in private, with sincere and honest hearts.

What should our prayers for the nation include? Give thanks to God for His blessing and providence, which have graced this nation since it began. Seek God’s ongoing protection and provision. Confess our sins, both individual and corporate. By the grace of God, we can find forgiveness in repentance. By the guidance of the Holy Spirit of God, we can discern God’s holy will for us and align ourselves with that will. Remember the prayers of Jesus in this regard: “That the Father may be glorified in the Son” (John 14:13). To bring glory to God… this was the purpose for which Jesus came to earth. The ascended Jesus – on his throne in glory now – hears our prayers. He has said he will do everything we ask for in His Name, to God’s glory. Andrew Murray wrote, “Every answer to prayer He gives will have this as its object. When there is not prospect of glorifying God, He will not answer. Therefore, this must be the aim of our prayers” (“Glorifying the Father” in The Faith of America: 250 Prayers for Our Nation). Let us remember this as we diligently pray for God’s hand of protection, provision, and guidance for America. Lord, help us as a nation to discern right from wrong and to follow obediently in your will, giving You the glory with every fiber of our being. Amen.

June Noon Meal Celebrates Father’s Day

Father’s Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in June to give tribute to those who fill the role of fatherhood in our lives. On June 21, we will honor our fathers during the morning worship service followed by the June fellowship meal. The day’s events provide an excellent opportunity to honor all those who serve in God’s plan as fathers, both physical and spiritual. Bring your family to worship God, the heavenly Father, and enjoy a covered dish meal with family and friends. We praise God and give him thanks for all those he has placed in our lives to lead, guide, protect, and provide as fathers do.

Trinity Presbytery Camp at Gilmont

Trinity Presbytery will sponsor youth camp at Camp Gilmont near Gilmer, Texas from Sunday, June 7 through Friday, June 12, 2026. Scholarships are available to help with costs. Interested campers can register through the church office.
