Prelude Lighting of the Candles
Opening Scripture Sentence: Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me…streams of living water will flow from him.” (By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive.) John 7:37-39
*Opening Prayer Pastor
*Call to Worship Responsive Reading, from Psalm 104
Leader: O Lord my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty. You wrap yourself in light as with a garment; You stretch out the heavens like a tent.
All: He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind. He makes the winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants.
Leader: He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved.
All: How many are your works, O Lord! In wisdom You made them all; the earth and sea are full of your creatures. These all look to You to give them their food at the proper time.
Leader: When You give it to them, they gather it up. When You open your hand, they are satisfied with good things. When You hide your face, they are terrified. When You take away their breath, they die and return to dust.
All: When You send your Spirit, they are created, and You renew the face of the earth. We will sing to the Lord as long as we live; may our meditation be pleasing to Him, as we rejoice in the Lord!

Call to Confession
Unison Prayer of Confession
Gracious God, we have fallen short of your intentions for us. In our selfishness, we misuse your gifts and ignore the needs of our neighbors. We are not open to the prompting of your Spirit. We do not love as You have loved us, nor do we forgive as You have forgiven us. We confess our sins and seek your mercy and grace. Breathe your Spirit of peace and compassion into our hearts, that we may be bold in proclaiming Christ’s love to others. In his name we pray, Amen.
Silent Prayer of Confession
Assurance of Pardon Pastor
God’s word promises that “He will not abandon us to the grave, nor will He let his Holy One see decay” (Psalm 16:8-11). God raised the crucified Christ to eternal life. Because of what God has done through Christ, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved!” (Acts 1:21)

Our Giving to the Lord Pastor
The love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us. As Spirit-filled people, we offer our gifts—not out of fear or obligation, but in response to God’s boundless generosity. Freely we have received, freely give. (Romans 5:5 and Matthew 10:8)
